You’ll be looking for a florist that knows design, color and has plenty of experience with weddings. Ask to see photographs of their work. Most florists will have a book of designs for you to leaf through. The most talented ones will have their own designs to proudly show you.

Prior to meeting with a florist there are many details you’ll want to think about so you have a better idea of your size and style of ceremony. Your florist will want to know the overall style and color scheme of your wedding so decide that before meeting with them. If possible, bring color swatches along, pictures of any wedding bouquets you particularly like, and a photo of your dress. They will also need a list of the number of attendants and family members that are in the wedding party. This information determines the number of bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages of different types that are needed.

Before meeting with a florist try to have some sort of idea on the budget you are working with (ie. How much can you afford to spend on flowers?). There are some areas where you can skimp but think long and hard before skimping on the flowers. They are the icing on the proverbial cake and will greatly contribute to the majority of photographs taken that day. When the wedding is over and the money spent is barely a memory, you’ll always remember how beautiful the flowers were. With the right florist, that’s exactly how it will be!
