Winter Storm Leon Hits the Coastal Carolinas

Posted on 01/31/2014

It’s been a cold few days here at the Brunswick Beaches. Many locals have been iced in since Tuesday. It’s finally supposed to get up to the mid 50’s today, and melt all the ice. I personally have been having some intense cabin fever! I’m not used to being stuck in for so long. Thank goodness the weather is looking up for this weekend. It may be rainy, but I’m not complaining about the temperatures in the mid 60’s. The ice affected us, but not as badly as it could have. The roads were bad and most local shops closed down. Schools have been closed everyday this week other than Monday. But we’re thankful that we haven’t lost power or had any other major issues. Power lines around here are not equipped for the heavy ice, so there was a good chance of power loss. We’ve had our winter storm mother nature, now bring on the sunshine and beach weather!
