A Day at the Docks in Holden

When you’re planning a visit to our Brunswick Beaches plan on coming this weekend because it's only this weekend when you can experience A Day at the Docks in Holden. This is a festival that takes place about this time every year right here in Holden Beach. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the festival will be under the Holden Beach Bridge on Jordan Boulevard and you’re invited to attend.

2013 Days at the DocksThis is one of the ways the locals kick off springtime and the beginning of the vacation season. There will be lots of tasty food and an assortment of arts and crafts vendors showing their creations To the delight of everyone, there will be live music with bands performing all day. You’ll be listening to Fat Jack Band, Legree Graham Band, and The Fabulous Daddy O’s. Don’t miss the popular Bopple Race and horseshoe tournament.

There will be an area set up for children that will include Miss Jenn’s Face Painting, a Home Depot workshop, The Almost Amazing A with his Awesome Balloons, Harvest Fellowship and an assortment of new games along with prizes, too! Free admission and free parking.

Saturday, April 26

9 a.m.   Registration begins for Cardboard Box Paddle Race
9:30-12 p.m.  Fat Jack Band will perform
12 noon-2 p.m. WWZZ Live Broadcast
1 p.m.   Cardboard Box Paddle Race Begins
1:30-4 p.m.  Legree Graham Band performs
6 p.m.   Street Dance with The Fabulous Daddy O’s performing at the Holden Beach Pavilion. Bring a chair and your dancing shoes!

Sunday, April 27

8 a.m.  Worship Service
9:30 a.m.  Motorcycle and Car Show
10-12 p.m. Parkton UNC Praise Band
12 Noon  Rock the Dock Singing Competition
1- 3 p.m.  Pantastic Steel
3 p.m.  Bopple Race
3:30 p.m.  Awards Ceremony and Closing Announcements

Bopple price is $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00 or a full sheet for $35.00. There will be three $100 winners who do not need to be present to win. "A bopple is an apple boat that is assigned a number and dropped into the Intracoastal Waterway from atop the bridge by the mayor and commissioners," says the Insiders Guide to North Carolina. "The bopples that pass the finish line first and second earn prizes for their owners."
